Himanshu Khagta, is a freelance travel photographer from India who was born in Rohru, a small town in the western Himalayas and grew up in Shimla. The landscapes and nature due to its proximity to him captured his interest from childhood and moments were spent figuring out a way where he could capture everything that may never comeback.

In 5th grade, he discovered another love of his- computers and starting exploring and learning them inch by inch, inside and outside. It was with this interest that he came up with his first designed website in as early as Class 8and coincidentally, the website was related to Himachal Pradesh as well.

In 9th grade, he was sought by MyHimachal, an NGO, where he contributed largely by doing some voluntary designing and coding work for himachal.us He also created a framework for the Himachal Tourism's website. 

By 10th grade, he took his interest to a higher level by learning programming through books and internet and thus, being fluent with Visual basic, HTML, XHTML, PHP, XML, Flash, Word processing and almost every famous software.

His interest in photography hadn’t exhausted but just subsided during this phase. But the old flames renewed when his father bought him a phone camera and he begun snap shooting whenever, wherever he could. He was still learning digital photography. On the suggestion of some friends, he then started publishing them on internet.

Through the year, his pics got published in Himachal Tourism Ads and he ended up buying a DSLR. To add feather to his cap, he also worked with Hero Honda and from then his love affair with photography seems invincible.

Now he is continuously working with numerous publications including The International Herald Tribune, The New York Times, Femina, Outlook, Spice Route, Swagat, Discover India and many other publications.

A Self Taught Photographer, a guy who believes that internet is his teacher, loves trekking, hiking and camping - That's what Himanshu is!
